Can magnetic grinding shoes remove epoxy and glue?

Yes. Depending on the coating type and thickness, magnetic grinding shoes can be used for coating removal and surface preparation. For heavy epoxy, paint, glue, or waterproofing removal, PCD grinding shoes are often the most effective option.

What are magnetic grinding shoes?

Magnetic grinding shoes are quick-change diamond tooling segments used on floor grinders fitted with a magnetic plate system. They allow operators to change tooling in seconds without bolts or tools, reducing downtime and improving productivity on site. Magnetic grinding shoes are commonly used for concrete grinding, coating removal, and surface preparation.

What machines use magnetic grinding shoes?

Magnetic grinding shoes are compatible with many floor grinders fitted with magnetic quick-change tooling plates, including selected Lavina, EDCO Magna-Trap, Onfloor, Diamatic, Blastrac, and Vortex machines. Compatibility depends on your grinder's tooling plate configuration. If you're unsure, contact us before ordering and we'll help identify the correct tooling for your machine.

Which bond should I use?

Super soft and soft bonds suit hard, dense concrete with high MPa ratings. Medium bond is ideal for general-purpose grinding on mid-range concrete. Hard bond works best on soft, abrasive, or porous concrete. Using the wrong bond causes glazing and reduces tool life significantly.

What grit should I start with?

Start with 16 or 30 grit for aggressive grinding, coating removal, and heavy stock removal. Move to 60 grit for surface preparation and scratch refinement. Use 120 grit for fine grinding before polishing. For best results, always progress from coarse to finer grits.

What is the difference between magnetic and Redi Lock grinding shoes?

Magnetic grinding shoes use a magnetic quick-change plate system that allows tooling to be installed and removed without bolts or tools. Redi Lock grinding shoes use Husqvarna's proprietary quick-change locking system. Because the two systems use different mounting designs, they are not directly interchangeable without a compatible adaptor plate.

Do you ship magnetic grinding shoes internationally?

Yes, we ship worldwide from our Australian warehouse. For large or urgent international orders, contact us before ordering to confirm availability and freight options.

What is the difference between W shape, hexagon and button segments?

W segments are designed for aggressive grinding and fast debris removal, making them ideal for surface preparation. Hexagon segments provide controlled grinding with a consistent scratch pattern and smoother finish. Button segments are typically used for lighter grinding and surface refinement before polishing.
