Faqs

What is the difference between a Techtop TAI 71A and 71B frame?

Both 71A and 71B are frame variants within the Techtop TAI series. According to Techtop, the difference between the A and B variants relates to the motor's internal design and performance requirements rather than the external mounting dimensions. This means the same TAI 71 dimensional drawings can be used for the corresponding 71A and 71B motor variants.

Please note that the “B” in 71B does not mean this is a TAIB brake motor. TAIB is a separate Techtop brake motor series, while 71B is a frame variant within the standard TAI series.

Is the Techtop TAI 0.12kW motor single phase or three phase?

This is a three phase electric motor. The standard motor is rated for 230/415V at 50Hz.

What speed does the Techtop TAI 0.12kW 8 pole motor run at?

This is an 8 pole motor with a full-load speed of approximately 650 RPM at 50Hz. This makes it suitable for applications requiring a substantially lower motor speed than typical 2 pole or 4 pole motors.

What frame size is this motor?

This motor uses a 71B frame. When replacing an existing motor, always compare the frame dimensions, shaft size and mounting configuration rather than selecting a replacement based only on the kW rating.

What is the shaft diameter?

The Techtop TAI 71B frame motor has a 14mm shaft diameter. Shaft dimensions should always be checked against the existing motor, coupling, pulley or driven equipment before installation.

What is the full-load current of this motor?

The motor has a full-load current of approximately 0.62A at 400V.

How much torque does the motor produce?

The Techtop TAI 0.12kW 8 pole motor produces approximately 1.75Nm of torque at full load.

Is this motor suitable for continuous operation?

Yes. This motor has an S1 continuous-duty rating, meaning it is designed for continuous operation at its rated load when correctly selected, installed and operated.

What protection rating does this motor have?

The motor has an IP55 protection rating and a TEFC (Totally Enclosed Fan Cooled) construction. It also features Class F insulation with Class B temperature rise.

What mounting options are available?

Techtop TAI motors are available in several common mounting configurations, including B3 Foot Mount, B5 Flange Mount, B14 Face Mount, B34 Foot & Face Mount and B35 Foot & Flange Mount. Select the mounting configuration that matches your equipment and installation requirements.

Can this Techtop motor replace another brand of electric motor?

Potentially, yes. When selecting a replacement motor, compare the power rating, voltage, number of poles, RPM, frame size, shaft diameter, mounting configuration and physical dimensions with the existing motor. Matching the kW rating alone does not guarantee that a replacement motor will fit or operate correctly.

What applications is an 8 pole 650 RPM motor suitable for?

An 8 pole motor may be suitable for applications requiring relatively low motor speed, including certain fans, ventilation equipment, conveyors and industrial machinery. Suitability depends on the torque, speed, mounting and other requirements of the driven equipment.

Are dimensional drawings available for this motor?

Yes. Dimensional drawings are available to help confirm the shaft, foot mounting, flange, face mounting and overall motor dimensions. Techtop has advised that corresponding TAI 71A and 71B variants use the same external dimensional drawings.

Is a motor data sheet available?

Yes. A technical data sheet is available for this motor and includes detailed information such as voltage, current, RPM, torque, efficiency, power factor, bearings, protection rating and motor mass.

How can I confirm whether this motor will fit my machine?

If you are unsure which motor you require, contact Paddle Wholesale Australia and provide a clear photo of the existing motor's nameplate, shaft and mounting arrangement. Where possible, also provide the important mounting and shaft dimensions. We can help you compare the specifications and identify a suitable replacement motor.

The Techtop TAI 0.12kW Three Phase Electric Motor is an aluminium-frame industrial motor designed for reliable continuous operation in applications requiring low motor speeds. Featuring a 0.12kW rated output, 8 pole configuration and 650 RPM full-load speed, this motor provides a practical solution for machinery requiring substantially lower speeds than conventional 2 pole or 4 pole motors. The motor uses a 71B frame and forms part of Techtop's TAI aluminium three phase motor range. Designed for 230/415V, 50Hz operation, the motor has a full-load current of 0.62A at 400V and is rated for S1 continuous duty. It features aluminium construction with a TEFC (Totally Enclosed Fan Cooled) design, IP55 protection and Class F insulation with Class B temperature rise. At full load, this 0.12kW motor produces 1.75Nm of torque, with 47.7% full-load efficiency and a 0.59 full-load power factor. Techtop specifies a noise level of only 52 dB(A) at one metre. The motor is fitted with NSK ball bearings, using 6202ZZ / 6202ZZ C3 bearings at the drive and non-drive ends. The standard motor mass is approximately 6.0kg. With its 8 pole, 650 RPM configuration, this motor is particularly suited to low-speed fans and ventilation equipment, conveyors, OEM machinery and other industrial equipment requiring low motor speed without relying solely on a high-speed motor. Multiple mounting configurations are available across the Techtop TAI range, including B3 Foot Mount, B5 Flange Mount, B14 Face Mount, B34 Foot & Face Mount and B35 Foot & Flange Mount, depending on the required installation. Within the Techtop TAI series, frame designations such as 71A and 71B relate to different internal motor configurations rather than different external mounting dimensions. According to Techtop, corresponding A and B frame variants can use the same dimensional drawings. When replacing an existing three phase electric motor, always compare the rated output, voltage, number of poles, RPM, frame size, shaft diameter, mounting configuration and physical dimensions rather than selecting a replacement based only on the kW rating. If you're unsure whether this motor is suitable for your equipment, contact Paddle Wholesale Australia with a clear photo of the existing motor nameplate, shaft and mounting arrangement. We can help identify the specifications required for a suitable replacement.
